1. Use a common theme
Choose a style or pattern when decorating. This doesn’t mean you need to go out and buy all new décor. It can be a simple as buying a few rolls of patterned ribbon and incorporating it in your decorating. Using bits of the same element throughout your decorating ties the whole space together.
2. Choose items that scale to the size of the space
If you have a large entryway, use oversized items that make a statement. These oversized bells hanging above the door do just that! I chose a wider ribbon, an extra tall porch board, and large lanterns to accessorize the tall front doors.
3. Incorporate natural items with store-bought pieces
It’s all in the details. Adding some pine branches, pine cones or wood logs along with your store-bought items helps bring in a touch of nature to balance out your space. You can even find most of the items going for a walk on a trail or even at your local grocery store or nursery.
4. Embrace the season of giving and random acts of kindness
Let’s not forget the most important part of the holidays! We all play a part in making the world a better place. Many of us rely on online deliveries to get us through the holidays. Remember this is also the busiest time of year for your package delivery person! Putting a basket of water and snacks or even just a simple thank you note wishing them Happy Holidays goes a long way!
